Boris Podrecca was born in Belgrade in 1940. He studied sculpture in Venice and architecture in Vienna, where he moved in the 1960s and graduated in 1968. Guest professorships in Lausanne, Paris, Venice, Philadelphia, London, Vienna, Harvard-Cambridge (Boston) and since 1988 a full professorship at the Technical University of Stuttgart as Director of the Institute of Architectural Design and Theory of Space. He received several honors and awards among them: Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres-Paris, Award of Culture for Architecture-Vienna, Jože Plečnik Award, Ljubljana, Award San Giusto d’oro- Trieste.  Doctor honoris causa of the University of Maribor and the Academy of Fine Arts of Belgrade. Member of Honor of the Academies of Sciences and Arts in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Member of Honor of the Association of German Architects, Germany. He designed more than 30 public spaces in 8 European countries, and many significant projects (in Viena, Venice, Milano, Limoges, Meran, Napels, Ljubljana, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Salzburg, Klagenfurt, Stuttgart, Piran, Split, Triest), among them Vienna the 220 m high Millennium Tower and the Vienna International Biocenter. He designed exhibitions like the Biedermeier show in Vienna, Jože Plečnik at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Friedrich Kiesler at the Whitney Museum in New York.

Marko Dabrović (born in 1969 in Dubrovnik) and Saša Begović (born in 1967 in Bjelovar) are co-founders of the 3LHD studio from Zagreb. 3LHD is an architectural studio founded by four partners: Saša Begović, Marko Dabrović, Tanja Grozdanić Begović and Silvije Novak. 3LHD was founded in 1994, when three of the four partners were still students at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, during the time of Croatian political and economic transition, and it was founded on the foundations of teamwork and atmosphere. After years of successful business, in 2016, 3LHD appointed a new partner, Paula Kukuljica. All partners graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb, Croatia. 3LHD partners are guest lecturers at institutions around the world, and they are currently teachers at the Faculties of Architecture at the University of Zagreb and Split.

Karolina Backman graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed her master’s studies at TU Delft. Karolina is a specialist in Circularity and Carbon whilst in 3XN, also providing strategic advice to clients on ESG and broad sustainability targets. Karolina believes in an iterative design approach to ensure that measures for carbon reduction are considered throughout all design stages and utilising digital tools to analyse the impact of design considerations quickly. She uses knowledge in Reuse and considers all three vital parts of reducing carbon over building life cycles. She worked in GXN projects Mark Lane (UK), and Vikingaskeppsmuseet Roskilde (Denmark), and she was included in the CIRCuIT EU Project for Circular Regenerative Cities.

Robert Schmitz was born in 1979. He is one of White Arkitekter´s leading partners and Director of competitions. He has managed several of the company´s flagship projects from competition to completion with a special focus on designing public, civic and cultural buildings that encourage a sense of belonging. He is the lead architect of the internationally recognized and awarded Sara Cultural Centre, the world´s largest, carbon-negative timber building. Robert is the director of the competitions team while providing strategic input into the management of the Stockholm studio. Furthermore, he takes part in international architectural juries, and he is also a speaker worldwide.

Ingrid van der Heijden (1968) co-founded Civic in 2015. Civic is an Amsterdam-based architecture studio that works in the public realm, designing places for common use like libraries, theatres, and cultural buildings, educational buildings and public installations. After a career in marketing and professional training as a cabinet maker, Ingrid discovered she had the spatial skills, drive and stamina to find her way in architecture. She studies the evolution of building types, materials and their context and experiments with its possibilities. Her work focuses on architectural form, sensory qualities of materials and production processes. Ingrid was the lead architect in the LocHal project.

Dušica Totić and Marko Korošec are co-founders of Remorker Architects. Remorker Architects is an architectural studio based in Belgrade. Working since 2014 in the field of architecture, engineering and interior design. The studio is highly specialized in architectural and interior design, as well as in design research and construction works supervision and management. They are the winners of several awards, among them: in 2018. Award of the city of Belgrade for architecture, 2018. Big See Wood Award, 2021. Award “Ranko Radovic”, and honorable mention at 40. Salon of architecture in Serbia. ​In 2021. Remorker Architects project Office building was nominated for Mies van der Rohe award.

ALJOSHA DEKLEVA

Aljoša Dekleva established Dekleva Gregorič Architects in 2003 in Ljubljana. Aljoša have  graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana and continued studying in London, where he received their postgraduate Master’s degrees in Architecture. He have received several awards, among them the European Architecture Award Luigi Cosenza in 2004 and Plečnik’s Medal prize in Slovenia. Five times have been nominated for Mies van den Rohe Award. Alongside his architectural practice, Aljoša Dekleva is intensively involved in reshaping approaches to architectural education. Aljoša is the Programme Head of the AA nanotourism Visiting School at the Architectural Association in London. IN 2016 he was curator of the Slovenian national pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale.

IDIS TURATO

Idis Turato (1965) is an architect, researcher and professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb, and a visiting professor at the Faculties of Architecture in Belgrade, Split and Ljubljana. In 1992, together with Saša Randić, he founded Randić – Turato arhitekti, and since 2009 he has been working independently through the Turato architectural office. In 2020, together with Martin Mataija and Dora Sipina, he founded Mataija x Sipina x Turato. He is the winner of numerous awards and recognitions for architecture. In 2005, he won the Piranesi Award for Architecture. His projects were nominated ten times for the Mies Van der Rohe Award, and he is also the winner of Croatian awards for architecture: Viktor Kovačić, Drago Galić and Vladimir Nazor. On two occasions, in 2006 and 2010, he represented Croatia at the Architecture Biennale in Venice. In 2021, he was the curator of the Croatian pavilion for the Venice Biennale.

Jette Cathrin Hopp is a graduate architect and, director with responsibility for acquisition and new projects, and part of the executive management of Snøhetta. She has experience in leading major international project developments and competitions. She was a jury member of several architectural competitions and awards. Jette is a member of the board of trustees of the Schelling Architecture Foundation and has been appointed president of the jury for the Italian Architecture Prize in 2021. Jette holds a teaching position at the University of Technology and Design, Wismar, and is appointed Member of the Oslo City Architecture Council, and Member of the Advisory Council on Urban Planning of Kiel municipality, Germany. She was the team leader for the museum in the King Abdul Aziz Center for Knowledge and Culture, Dharhan in Saudi Arabia and a project leader for a large hotel and resort development Hvar in Croatia. She has led major international developments with a focus on sustainability at Astana Expo 2017 “Future Energy”, Kazakhstan and Lingkong Soho Shanghai, China.
